Increase staffing. While the security ambassador program is useful in some situations, the only proven way to deter crime is through a larger, more visible police presence.

Establish an East Side Sheriff's substation. We need to have a permanent Sheriff's presence on the east side in order to keep response times low.

Improve public access to data. Law enforcement is most effective when it is trusted by the community it serves and protects.

But with the recent reports of racial bias present within the broader LA County Sheriff's Department it's time we understood the extent of the problem here

That is why I will push to require quarterly reporting of crime and complaint data (like that provided in the Open Justice portal) in the city's next contract with the Sheriff's Department.
